Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge and express our deep gratitude to the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples of Canada—the caretakers of the land and keepers of its stories for thousands of years. Rooted Woodland is located within the Treaty 18 region of 1818, the traditional territory of the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat/Wyandot/Wyandotte peoples.

For over 500 years, Indigenous nations have welcomed others to share this land, now called Ontario. We are privileged to explore and connect with nature at Rooted Woodland, and we recognize the many generations of Indigenous stewardship that have made this possible. We are mindful of the broken treaties and the ongoing need for reconciliation with all our relations.

In this spirit, we strive to listen, learn, and care for this land, drawing inspiration from our shared history. As beneficiaries of centuries of Indigenous knowledge and stewardship, we carry the responsibility to ensure Rooted Woodland remains sustainable and respected for future generations.

This acknowledgment is part of our ongoing journey of learning. Thank you for your support, patience, and commitment to growing with us.
